Our livestock are raised at a natural pace on pasture, because we want .....
A hamburger with remarkable flavor.
A pork chop that's juicy and tender.
Lamb that's mild, delicate, and delicious.
Flavorful food doesn't happen by accident.
It begins with healthy soil, diverse pastures,
Heritage livestock breeds,
and animals raised with care.
When food is selected for flavor rather than speed or volume, the difference is easy to taste. Every choice we make—from the breeds we raise to the way we bake our bread and care for our bees—is guided by one simple goal: bringing exceptional flavor back to the table.
Our Randall cattle are a heritage breed known for producing richly flavored beef with fine marbling. Raised entirely on grass and allowed to mature slowly, they produce tender, richly flavored beef with the depth of flavor that only time and good pasture can provide.
Mulefoot pigs are an old American heritage breed known for producing beautifully marbled pork with exceptional flavor and juiciness. Raised outdoors with room to root and explore, they offer the rich flavor and juiciness many people remember from pork before leanness became the primary focus of commercial breeding.
Our Katahdin sheep are known for producing mild, tender lamb with a clean, approachable flavor. Grazing diverse pastures creates lamb that has pleasantly surprised many customers who once believed they didn't enjoy eating lamb.
Traditional sourdough relies on time rather than shortcuts. Slow, natural fermentation develops a crisp crust, tender crumb, and deep, complex flavor that simply can't be rushed.
Our bees gather nectar from clover, wildflowers, flowering trees, and the diverse plants growing throughout our pastures. The result is raw honey that captures the changing seasons and reflects the unique landscape of our farm.
At Pop's Old Place, we believe exceptional flavor begins long before a meal reaches the table. It starts with thoughtful farming, traditional methods, and the patience to let nature do what it does best.
